All candidates receive a certificate based on results evaluating them according to 6 levels (from A1 to C2) from the skills scale of the Common European Framework of References (CEFR).
TEF is composed of 2 series of tests:
MCQ (Multiple Choices Question) tests divided into 3 inseparable parts;
Reading comprehension (WC) 60 min – 50 questions – 300 points
Listening comprehension(SC) 40 min – 60 questions – 360 points
Lexicon and structure (LS) 30 min – 40 questions – 240 points
150 questions, for a detailed evaluation of language skills.
Productive tests, divided into 2 inseparable parts;
Written expression (WE) 60 min – 2 sujets à traiter – 450 points
Oral expression (OE) 15 min – 2 sujets à traiter – 450 points
The certificate is valid for 2 years.

TEFaQ is an adapted version of TEF for Quebec. This test is exclusively for candidates deposing a request for immigration in the office of Quebec, and who must certainly show a certificate of French language knowledge.
It evaluates your French speaking and writing skills by using the following tests:
ORAL EXAMS :
Listening comprehension (SC) 40 min – 60 questions – 360 points
The listening comprehension is evaluated through a Multiple-Choice Questionnaire test (MCQ) of 60 questions. The listening materials of that test use very common daily situations (discussions, public announcements, radio program extracts…).
Oral expression (SE) 15 min – 2 sections to handle – 450 points
The oral expression exam is made of role-plays mobilising the know-how and know-how-to-be in daily life situations. With written documents from daily life situations (announcement, letter, advertisement…) candidates must obtain information, present a document and convince their interlocutor (reviewer).
Tasks proposed:
A section: collect information, ask questions
B section: present a document, argue to convince, appreciate and compare
COMPLEMENTARY WRITTEN EXAMS
Reading comprehension (WC) 60 min – 50 questions – 300 points
Written expression (WE) 60 min – 2 subjects to handle – 450 points
The certificate of results for TEFaQ indicates the distribution of scores obtained to each tests, and gives detailed comments for each skill and for all candidates.
The TEFaQ certificate is valid for 2 years.

TEF Canada is an adapted version of TEF. It was designated by Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada and Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion (MIDI) of Quebec for all economic immigration programs which need, or accept, proofs of language knowledge. TEF Canada is composed of 4 independent parts:
1. Listening comprehension: 40 min – 60 questions
2. Reading comprehension: 60 min – 50 questions
3. Oral expression: 15 min – 2 subjects to handle
4. Written expression: 60 min – 2 subjects to handle
The TEF Canada certificate is valid for 2 years.
